Story
Just over 2 years ago I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Motor Neurone Disease is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. It kills six people every day in the UK, a third within 12 months of diagnosis and more than half within two years. It has no cure. The physical and emotional burden post diagnosis can be very difficult to process.
Fundraising has given me a positive outlet in learning to live with this diagnosis.
This October thanks to Venari partners, my sister Sarah and I have been selected to take part in a charity challenge raising money for 2 mnd charities close to our hearts. Over 7days, we will trek through the desert of Jordan to the lost city of Petra along with an inspirational group of people, who’ve faced significant adversity and are all raising money for their chosen charities.
This is something I would’ve taken in my stride a couple of years ago (or at least I like to think I would’ve!). However due to the progression of my Motor Neurone Disease this will now be more challenging than ever.
All money raised goes towards supporting those living with MND, their families and funds research into new treatments and hopefully one day a cure.
Both the MND Association and My Name'5 Doddie foundation are supporting vital research into a cure for MND and care for its sufferers. Their efforts and the advances they've made give us hope where there was none, and we want to raise as much money as possible to continue their critical work.
Please sponsor if you can, every penny raised really could make all the difference!
Your support as always is very much appreciated ❤️
Thank you!
