Story
Cancer.......the ultimate game changer. In some shape or form it has affected me and my entire family for as long as I can remember........it’s time to change the game in our favour!
As some of you may know, my father contracted prostate cancer a couple of years ago and thanks to the amazing work The NHS and The Beatson Cancer Centre have done thus far, he still has a good quality of life and more importantly has cancer although not yet curable, is being treated using the latest cancer drugs. Coupled with his trademark stubbornness he’s putting up an amazing fight.
Now it’s my turn to lend my hand in the fight against this awful disease and for anyone who knows me, I tend not to do things in half measures. 52 weeks to climb 52 Munro’s across Scotland. Though hopefully I won’t be doing all of them alone. As well as donating, I also want to invite anyone who wants to try scaling a mountain in the awesome splendour that is Scotland.
So if it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, see some more of the country or simply want to test yourself, then come and be a part of the solution that helps us move toward better treatments and cures for prostate cancer.
More importantly please donate. Every donation helps not only the charity, it also gives that extra boost on the cold dreich mornings........every step could mean a survivor, every donation can keep a family united.
Start date is the 1st of April and I will post the peaks and dates as far in advance as possible on the Facebook page (@52peaks52weeks). Weather will always play a part on any assent so there could always be the chance of some of the walks being delayed. If you would like to join me on some of these, simply DM me and I will let you know the plan. Please be aware some of these could require a stay in either a bothy, tent or B&B and your own transport will be required.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing some old and new faces in the weeks and months to come.
