Story
For reasons too complicated to explain I was awarded a ballot place in next years London Marathon, and despite being old, overweight and unfit I decided to give it a go. With the help of my excellent physio Charlie I have got most of the way through my training programme uninjured ... so it may be on.
In truth I am doing this for myself but seeing as I'm running anyway it seemed a good idea to run for a charity. I wanted to find a small one where all of the money got to work hard but couldn't find an obvious candidate. However in February my mother died after a short illness. At Plymouth hospital in her final hours I came across the nurses from St Lukes, a charity that cares for people at the end of their lives. They were brilliant. I found out that they are a local hospice in my mums area and the work they do for people of all ages at end of life stage is outstanding. I didn't need to look for a charity, they found me.
So I am going to do my best. Please donate a few quid to St Lukes to wish me well, don't know how I'll get on but I hope to make it all the way round...fingers crossed!
