STOP PRESS! (see photo)
I made it to the summit (4 out of 6 in our group did) at 7.25am on Friday 2nd July!
I have always enjoyed the “Big Outdoors” and climbing hills, so when Rod Boreham, the Guildford Town Centre Chaplain, asked if anyone at GCC were up for the challenge of Kilimanjaro, I was immediately interested. I realise that it will be far from easy, especially with the high altitude, as this is a “proper big mountain”(!). However I am looking forward to joining with the other guys, not only to attempt to conquer the peak, but also to spend the following week serving on a charity project which, like the Chaplaincy in Guildford, brings hope to the local community in Tanzania.
In order to take part in this challenge I need to fundraise at least £1,000, to be split between the Guildford Chaplaincy and the local Tanzanian charity. (I intend to pay the cost of the actual trip myself). Hence my JustGiving page. To climb any mountain it’s a case of one step at a time, so I would be very grateful for any contribution towards my target, however large or small. Thank you so much for your support. God bless you, Andy
