Story
UPDATE: six months later - having deferred in October last year due to illness - I actually completed the marathon, having done all the training again!!!
A huge thank you for all the donations generously made last year - the page will be open until the end of May so please do donate if you can.
THANK YOU!!
I have always been firmly of the view that the human body is simply not designed to run a marathon and that I would therefore not be daft enough to try and do one!
However, like many of us, I sadly have seen several family and close friends suffer with this disease over recent years. We then lost our close friend, the lovely Fiona Buckley, who tragically passed away last year after a long and painful struggle.
I have therefore decided to run the London Marathon to fundraise for Prevent Breast Cancer.
1 in 9 women and 1 in 1000 men in the UK will develop the disease in their lifetime. That means that every year, in the UK, 55,000 individuals are diagnosed, 150 people a day. Prevent Breast Cancer is the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer. Please help me create a future free from breast cancer by donating today.
