Andy and David’s 165-mile cycle challenge for Parkinson’s UK
Andy Cross and David Poole are taking on an epic 165 mile cycle challenge this summer in aid of Parkinson’s UK.
This August we’re taking on our first charity challenge together – attempting to ride 165 miles in just 48 hours all the way along the Grand Union Canal from Birmingham to London.
We want to raise as much money as possible and anything you can offer would be really appreciated.
Parkinson’s UK, are on a mission to change attitudes, to support people with Parkinson’s and to find a cure. Parkinson’s UK aim to bring forward the day when no one fears a diagnosis of Parkinson's and they could not need your help more right now, having been starved of much needed revenue as a result of the lockdown, the needs of the people reliant on help from the charity are very real and the charity is struggling to meet them.
Starting at the site where HS2 will build Birmingham’s brand new city centre station – and on the original site of the city’s first Victorian railways station - we will follow the canal through Warwick, Leamington, Northampton and Milton Keynes before arriving at Euston – the site of HS2’s London terminus.
Alongside negotiating the often narrow and muddy towpath and the numerous locks, dodging territorial geese and attempting to stay out of the canal, we’ll also have to negotiate two significant hills at Shrewley and Blisworth, where the canal inconsiderately enters two of its very few tunnels.
It’s going to be difficult, but we’re determined to do it.
If you can support us and help us raise much needed funds for Parkinson’s UK then please make a donation.
