Story
Well folks, as most of you know already, my dad has unfortunately been diagnosed with dementia which has taken hold of him very quickly over the last year and having spent 4 months in hospital, he is now living in a specialist dementia care home in East Kilbride.
Dad is and always has been a very strong willed independent guy who hates being helped by others which makes this situation more difficult. It's a horrible disease to watch a loved one be gripped by when they don't realise that it's happening to them. There is no cure for dementia so I thought the only way to do something other than be there for him would be to raise some money for the Alzheimer's charity who deal with dementia and help in so many ways with care and support for both patients and their families.
So I've decided to give myself a real challenge and run the Edinburgh marathon (yes I know it's 26 miles and it'll be torture!) So if you would be good enough to sponsor me for this ill do my best to finish as quickly as I can and make my dad proud. Lisa is taking bets on times and has promised to double her donation if I can break 4 hours, hopefully I can do that without needing to cheat in a taxi!!
