Story
Hi everyone,
In September I'm running Nike Run to the Beat for Dementia UK, a charity that is close to my families heart. Dementia is a cruel illness that can strike at any time of life, and can cause much pain and suffering not only for the person with the illness but the family members around them watching what they are going through. Sadly my grandfather suffers from this horrible illness and struggles daily with simple every day tasks along with putting names to faces.
Also as some of you may also know, I lost my mother-in-law in April this year to Posterior Cortical Atrophy (also known as Bensons Syndrome, a variant of Alzheimer's). This was particularly hard on our family as she was so young (only 62) and she wasn't fully able to enjoy her role as a doting grandmother to our son. After seeing how hard she fought and how strong she was throughout her illness, I thought running a few miles would be a drop in the ocean.
I hope that you can find some spare cash to help me raise awareness of this horrible illness and help provide much needed research, which will hopefully stop this cruel debilitating illness.
Thanks so much in advance for your support!
Andy
