Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Andy, I'm 34 years old and I'm a CT/MRI Radiographer at The Hospital of St. John and St. Elizabeth.
I feel proud to have been chosen to represent St Johns Hospice at the 2018 London Marathon.
My aim over the the next six months is to work hard, push my body further than ever before to raise as much money as possible for St Johns Hospice whilst achieving a long held personal dream of completing Londons most iconic race.
Having worked as a Senior Radiographer in Imaging for over five years at the Hospital of St. John and St. Elizabeth, I have seen first hand the amazing and difficult work the Hospice does with dedicated staff going above and beyond with a special team effort. The care the staff provide for palliative care patients not only in the Hospice itself but also in the community is second to none.
In Imaging we get a short amount of time with Hospice patients as our scans don't take long but in that time you get a glimpse into people lives and it is possible to make a emotional connection with patients situations. It's hard to imagine the feelings of all patients, family members and friends but with this opportunity I'll try my hardest to raise the money that will hopefully go towards making a difference.
I'll definitely need a few days off after the race as legs won't work and stairs will be a big challenge! This is not something I am taking lightly and this is beyond anything I have done before so please sponsor me as generously as you can. This will not be easy so I appreciate any donation that will make every stride toward the finish as valuable as possible. I will personally thank you by finishing the course and donating your hard earned money to a great cause.
If you've read this far, cheers!! I'll be creating a blog on here so you can follow my progress up to the big day. Also keep an eye out for any fundraising events!
