Story
The spread of coronavirus is affecting all of our lives. But while we make sense of this new reality, our hospital staff are all facing extreme pressures. At this challenging time for us all, we are determined to do everything we can to support the remarkable hospital staff leading the fight on the front line, while also helping vulnerable patients and their families. By fundraising for this campaign, you’ll be providing emergency funds to help hospital staff across all three of our hospitals cope with the extraordinary demands of fighting this pandemic.Your support will help us do this. Please give what you can to help our hospitals fight back against COVID-19.
In addition, a really good friend of mine is recovering from open heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital. After 11 hours on the operating table, over 50 pints of blood and 8 weeks in an induced coma, he is now up and walking again and is once again as grumpy as he used to be.
The NHS staff really can, and do work miracles.
So Mark Clements (an ex-forces thirty something), Alex Bailey (a fittish twenty something) and me (a nearly sixty year old bloke) have decided to try and and raise as much as we can to help our NHS. So we have decided to have breakfast in Hinckley, Leicestershire, and then cycle the 104 miles to Skegness, on the east coast, in a day. Yep - we must be mad !! And we are planning it for early September - just a few weeks training left.
Please contribute as much or as little as you can for this very worthy cause.
