Running for a Cause: Every Mile Counts
I'm embarking on a journey, both physically and mentally, to make a difference in the lives of children who aren't as fortunate as my own.
Having never run before this challenge, I got the bug and committed to running the iconic London Marathon in support of Action Medical Research in 2024.
Sadly, that didn't go as planned due to a chest infection in the last week before the event. My entry has now been deferred to 2025, and I'm going to squeeze some more events in to make it all worthwhile.
My goal?
---------------
To raise over £2,100 to fund groundbreaking research that can change the lives of children facing health challenges.
Originally the pkan was to run 130 training miles and then complete London 2024.
The 130-mile target was smashed, with 350 miles of training being completed, and the challenge has now been extended to include:
- Anglesey Half Marathon - DONE!
- The Great North Run - Sept 2024
- The Manchester Half Marathon - Oct 2024
- The London Marathon - April 2025
Why Action Medical Research?
---------------
I look at my children and feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for their health and happiness. But I'm acutely aware that not every parent can say the same. Action Medical Research is dedicated to improving the health of babies and children. By supporting them, we're not just donating money; we're giving hope, love, and a brighter future to countless families.
I'll be documenting each of my runs, sharing my progress, and telling the stories of those who inspire me along the way on this page. Your support, whether through words of encouragement or generous donations, will fuel my journey and, more importantly, bring us closer to a world where all children have the chance to live healthy, fulfilling lives.
How can you help?
---------------
1. Donate: Every penny counts. Your contribution will directly support research that can save lives and improve the quality of life for children.
2. Share: Spread the word! Share this page with friends, family, and colleagues. The more awareness we raise, the bigger the impact we can make.
3. Engage: Follow my journey on Just Giving. Celebrate the milestones with me, and let's create a community of support for Action Medical Research.
Together, we can make a difference.
With heartfelt gratitude, Andy
