Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in aid of LOROS Hospice.
Each year they need to raise £5 million to enable them to care for over 2,500 terminally ill patients across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.
To help enable them to provide this amazing support Andy and I have decided to participate in this classic walking challenge - The Yorkshire Three Peaks.
As you may already be aware, the three peaks in question are those of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, and we are to climb them in that order. The peaks themselves form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble. The route itself is roughly 25 miles long, and includes 5,200ft (1,585m) of ascent. Set in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, the route has long been seen as the original epic challenge walk with us attempting to complete the distance within 12 hours.
We will be travelling up Friday 4th August for an early start on Saturday 5th August and using those long summer days to give us a full 12 hours to cover the 25 miles. Fingers crossed for a dry day.
Your support and donations will get us through the day and will be greatly appreciated by LOROS Hospice.
