Story
Between 16th and 29th May I am cycling with Pete King between Land’s End and John O’Groats (the “uphill” route!). For me this will fulfil one of my life’s ambitions although I have not cycled more than a couple of miles for at least 10 years. During the ride we will cover about 1023 miles and so we should be averaging about 76 miles per day. Our route will take us up through Cornwall and Devon, up to and across the Severn Bridge, along the Welsh border to the Mersey Crossings, then through a part of the Lake District before crossing the Scottish Border at Gretna. We will then head up the West Coast to Fort William before travelling up the Great Glen to Inverness and then on to John O’Groats. We are travelling unsupported, carrying all our kit with us and staying in B&Bs and with relations along the way.
Our cycle ride is raising funds for the Army Benevolent Fund which provides support to soldiers, former soldiers and their families in time of need, identifying and investigating cases in real need and providing them with financial support. With the current level of operations this need is greater than ever.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Army Benevolent Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
