Story
From an early age the support that my Grandma, Greta Massey, had a massive influence on my life.
I was fortunate enough to have a much needed bedroom at her house when I was young, and I also remember one time in my teens coming home there to find an Asian lady I dint know sat in the lounge. My Grandma had seen her and her little girl crying at a bus stop whilst in town and kindly stopped to see what was the matter. The lady had lost her purse whilst in Blackpool and had no way of getting back home. My Gran had brought her back, provided a nice meal, and then she paid for her and her little one a safe taxi all the way back home to Birmingham. The wonderful way my Grandma was shaped my life and about how we should treat others. She was like my Mum and Dad rolled into one.
My Grandma died of cancer at that time, which was in her back and so painful for her. She was shining star to all who knew her. This hike is being done in her honour. She made me what I am, and I will always remember and love her greatly for it. So, although I am not very fit just now this is long overdue.
If you would like to support my 26 mile hike in an effort to raise much needed funds for the Macmillan Cancer Charity it would be very much appreciated.
