Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February I was admitted into Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital for a series of tests over the course of a week. At the end of that week, on February 12th I received the devastating news that I had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This illness is a progressive terminal disease of the nervous system which affects the muscles' ability to function and over time it will spread around the body. I lost my mother to this disease when she was 41, and having seen the progression in her I intend to enjoy, maximise my life and yet continue with normality as much as possible. There is no known cure at the moment but a lot of research is being conducted and that is where you come in.
The news that you have a terminal illness has a strange effect because it does allow you to focus the mind and helps to really prioritise what you want to get out of this precious life. So as you can imagine I intend to live my life and give my immediate family fond memories to cherish.
So I've given this a lot of thought and naturally the first thing I want to do is scare the hell out of them by jumping out of a plane! On 8th July I will be doing a tandem freefall along with with my partner Sue to raise awareness and much needed funds for MND.
I would really appreciate if you could sponsor us in this madness.
