As some of you will know, Becky has Vitelliform Macular Dystrophy. This is an eye disease which causes progressive vision loss. It affects cells in a small area near the centre of the retina called the macula. This is the part of the eye is responsible for sharp central vision, needed for detailed tasks such as reading, driving, and recognizing faces. There is no cure yet but there are promising areas of research into the disease and funding is needed, so Becky had the idea of signing me and Kevan up for a 100 mile charity ride. This will mostly be me frantically riding for 8 hours, trying to stay ahead of the broom wagon, sweeping up the stragglers, while Kevan drinks coffee at the finish.
