HELP FOR HEROES

During the last year I have deployed to Afghanistan twice.  During my tours I was often involved in the Armed Escorting of the Medical Immediate Response Team's Chinook Helicopter which is on call all day everyday to collect, treat and transport casualties throughout Southern Afghanistan to the main Hospital at Camp Bastion.
On too many occasions we were sent out to collect British Troops with injuries ranging from sickness to the severe trauma caused from mines, bullets, grenades and suicide bombers.  There was also the nations dead to bring back for repatriation.
To give you an idea of just how many casualties there are in Afghanistan alone, I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say that for every death you hear about on the news there are around 20 serious injuries that are not reported.
These Heroes return to the homes they left as able bodied people injured, maimed and scarred both physically and mentally.  Help for Heroes aims to assist these Servicemen and Women on their long and painful road to recovery and to sustain this help through the years to come as these brave men and women struggle to come to terms with their horrific injuries.
During my two tours of duty in Afghanistan I have experienced firsthand what these brave heroes have been through and just how severe some of the injuries are.  Now that I am safely home I feel compelled to help those who have been much less fortunate than myself.  It is a hugely worthwhile cause so please help me to Help the Heroes who were sent to do a job on behalf of this great nation.
