Story
In memory of my inspirational Dad, George, and in aid of Dementia UK, I will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April.....St Georges Day!
Running this marathon means a lot to me and my family having lost my Dad to early onset dementia. This horrible disease took him away from us far too early at just 67 years old and after 10 years of deterioration and suffering. In truth, he hadn’t been the George we all new and loved for many years as Alzheimer’s tightened its grip. Unfortunately, it will most likely affect somebody close to you at some point too. Please read about Dementia UK below and the amazing work they do to help and support families affected by all forms of dementia. Together we can make a difference.
For those of you that know me, 16 weeks of training, a strict diet and zero alcohol is not in my DNA. It’s taking its toll but the comfy sofa to running 26.2 miles is happening. Please help me make it worthwhile by digging deep and helping raise as much as possible. I am truly thankful for any donation however big or small. Every pound really does make a difference.
I’m sure if Dad was here today he would be laughing and saying “what you doing that for you plonker?” I'm pretty sure I’ll be thinking the same on the 23rd.
