Story
Why Sense? If you know me the answer is obvious, for those who don't...
My 27 year old son was born prematurely and deafblind. For the first 18 months of his life it was a desperate struggle to know how to help him and to cope with all the other emotions felt at the devastating news. Then my wife and I found Sense and all the support our family needed. Sense has been with us every step of the way since, helping us to nurture our son to be the confident, spirited and adventurous person he is, now living independently, albeit with 24/7 support.
Having done so much fundraising in the past, usually for Sense, I felt reluctant to ask for donations for this personal challenge. However, so many people have offered to support me it really seems silly not to celebrate both our 60th birthdays in this way.
I planned to fulfil my ambition to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) a couple of years ago with a friend but my Achilles tendon injury put that on hold. It's something I want to achieve before I'm 60 and there's only 9 months left so here I go... solo and unsupported!
The route I have planned will see me pedalling approx 1000 miles; any donation you make will help Sense reach out to even more deafblind people and their families and increase my motivation to complete this challenge.
