Brighton is one of the richest cities in one of the richest countries in the world, yet we have 178 people sleeping on our streets. This is an outrage and has to end.
First Base supports between 70 and 100 rough sleepers every day. We provide toilets and showers, food and hot drinks, clean and dry clothes, medical attention and much more. Most importantly, we help people to end their rough sleeping.
We were the only homeless service open on Christmas Day.
We run a severe weather shelter at First Base when there is a risk to life.
BHT also provides:
- year round hostel accommodation for 52 rough sleepers
- residential addiction treatment and safe, alcohol and drug free accommodation for 62 former rough sleepers
- accommodation for 18 ex-rough sleepers who have jobs
- self contained accommodation for 100 former rough sleepers, including 36 in our shipping container homes project.
That’s accommodation for 232 rough sleepers every night of the year.
BHT and other homelessness charities are there, making a huge difference throughout the year. Can you imagine how much worse the rough sleeping crisis would be without us?
Please help me raise £1,000 to keep First Base open.
