Story
Save the UK's Charities General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income.
MHA operate care homes throughout the length and breadth of Britain and are in the thick of the fight to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. As well as residential care they fund and support Live at Home schemes to help people in later life remain well and active in their local communities. The MHA West Worcester Live at Home scheme is based just 10 minutes walk from my home, and from time to time I help out at the lunch clubs - usually washing up! As well as the lunches there are exercise classes, concerts by local musicians, outings and much more. It's a wonderful, friendly atmosphere - truly inspiring.
Of course at the moment the lunch club is suspended, but volunteers are continuing to keep in contact with the members through telephone befriending.
I'm looking forward to the day when we can all get together again. Meanwhile I'm going to dust off some of the weird and wonderful instruments in my collection (yes, I do have a crumhorn!) and give them a toot. 26 tunes on 26 instruments in 26 minutes!
I'll attempt my challenge on Sunday 26 April and hope to get video evidence!
Please give anything you can to support MHA and Live at Home to help people in later life to live well.
