RESULT: 137/150! Many thanks to all of you who have given money, and still are. It was worth every wrong note... (You can carry on donating for up to three months.)
The Cambridge Grade-One-a-Thon is a very personal cause for all of us taking part. In the summer of last year Guy Llewellyn, a very popular local horn-player and father of four, suffered a serious fall at home and is now in a wheelchair for life. After fearing the worst, he has now started playing the horn again and has been an inspiration to many friends.
A life-changing accident like this could happen to any of us. The Spinal Injuries Association is Guy's personal choice for this fundraising event after they helped him, in only a few months, to return to family, work and music.
Around 150 music teachers and professionals in Cambridge have volunteered to take the ABRSM Grade One exam on an instrument they have never played before. Having begged a clarinet from a friend I am making steady progress - and I promise I am practising the scales every day!
Please help me do my part to support this very worthwhile cause.
