Story
You all know how Just Giving works….
Stef Barto was my friend of over 40 years and universally liked by all. A world class drinker, excellent squash then racketball player, funny, knowledgeable and a man I miss every day. Oh for one more ‘El Decidré’ on the courts of Solihull Arden and then a pint at The Fieldhouse.
Late last year Stef was diagnosed with terminal cancer and by April we’d lost him. Marie Curie Solihull Hospice made his last few weeks comfortable and bearable and he told me the standard of care was second to none.
After getting reasonably fit and losing a few pounds walking throughout lock down, I feel up to the challenge of walking 24.5 miles over the 3 Peaks in less than 12 hours but I DO need an incentive. It’s estimated that it would have cost Marie Curie £10k to pay for Stef’s care. That’s a lot more than I can expect to raise personally but a target of £2K might at least a contribute a decent chunk towards helping to offset the cost of his care. It doesn’t matter whether you knew Stef or not, any contribution, however small, will be most welcome and help to pay for future care for the terminally ill.
