At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

I have lost some close and dear relatives to Cancer in my lifetime, and at all time's have been fortunate to have the support mechanisms in place to help myself and my family cope.

The latest victim I watched endure the disease was my Wife's mother, Nancy, a little over two years ago. For a lady of 79 she was full of life, and I know if it wasn't for cancer she would have enjoyed many more years.

Being a keen cyclist I have never really made a big effort to raise money for charity, except for the odd sportive here and there. So when someone suggested to me in the office that I should challenge myself to cycle between all out Solus Repair Centres for charity, I thought of Nancy, and thought who she would have wanted me to raise money for?

It has always struck me with deep resonance the story's I read on social media how cancer can strike young children and young adults, those who also deserve and should have many years ahead of them. that the idea of young persons Cancer charity is something that I know that Nancy would want to benefit from my efforts.

So the challenge will be to Cycle from Solus Cumbernauld to Solus Bournemouth over seven days, 616 miles in total visiting, Solus Warrington, Birmingham, Coventry, Luton, Hitchin, Park Royal. Leatherhead, Epsom, Guilford. With the Final day travelling to Bournemouth via Basingstoke. I will be cycling unsupported.

I am super nervous and excited about this challenge in equal amounts, but young people make a difference. The legs are ready, I've had a week in Majorca, clocked the road miles, and recently completed Wales in A Day to test my resolve, which was a 185 mile single day ride. Let's get this on the road,
