Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 12th February 2010 Lawrence Dallaglio, some other finely tuned athletes, and ME will be cycling from Rome to Nice.
This is part of the Dallaglio Cycle Slam which will actually involve cycling the 2,800 kms between all of the 6 Nations Rugby grounds. We are aiming to raise over £1million for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio foundation (which in turn will donate to Cancer Research, Help For Heroes, Leukaemia Research and other charities). All very worthy charities.
I am cycling the first 5 days - the coldest and hilliest leg of 662 kms through the Southern Alps!!!. 3663 are providing some logistical support, transporting bikes etc. so I am hoping to utilise the new tow bar system we will be specially fitting for the event!
This is the first time I have been on a bike since my Cycling Proficiency test, so I know it will be painful. As usual I have planned a thorough training schedule which is guaranteed to ensure I don't overtrain - basically cycling to work and back a few days a week (40km each way). First ride completed today in minus 8 degrees!
You can see all the details on the ride etc on this link http://www.dallagliocycleslam.com/ (check to see I am doing it on stage 1 participants)
As well as enjoying the knowledge that I will be in alot of pain, you will be supporting some great charities, so please give generously
Many thanks.........Andrew
