Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be walking the March for Men with Jeff Stelling on the 8th of June 2017. This is Day 7 of Jeff's amazing 15 marathon walks in 15 days. The 26 mile (42 km) route will start at the DW Stadium (Wigan Athletic FC) taking me via Old Trafford (Manchester United FC) and on to the Etihad Stadium (Manchester City FC).
After loosing my father to prostate cancer when he was just 63. I have since been helping to raise funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK through various events as well as taking a job with them back in September 2016. I do not want others to have to lose their fathers, brothers, grandfathers, uncles and husbands to this terrible cancer; especially at such a young age.
In the UK Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's 130 men every day!
Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 11,000 men every year!
1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. The risks are higher for black men (1 in 4) and those men with a family history (You are two and a half times more likely to get prostate cancer if your father or brother has had it, compared to a man who has no relatives with prostate cancer).
Please give what you can and wish me luck on my March for Men!
