On the 17^th of April this year I am running the Virgin London Marathon aiming to raise a minimum of £1600 in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.  As I am sure you may be aware, The Soldiers’ Charity gives lifetime support to both serving and retired men, women and their families. In 2010 they made 4000 grants to individuals and other Military Charities and they need to raise £14 million a year by 2015 to help support those with horrific injuries sustained in the current conflicts.

Four generations of my family since 1915 have served in the armed forces. The most recent being my father, Lt Col. Roddy Riddell who was in the Black Watch for over 30 years and now my brother-in-law is currently serving in the Black Watch, 3^rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland.  I therefore feel a strong connection to the Army and helping those that have done so much for us.
