Story
With the BIG 40 just around the corner, I believe I am meant to have started my mid-life crisis a bit ago, but surely there is still time? Not wanting to miss out on such things, I have decided that a ‘fun’ way to finish out my 30’s, and to see if I can make it to my 40’s, would be to set myself a little challenge.
In the last few years I’ve been getting into my running, but I’ve always reiterated that I never want to run a marathon. So, when I got the offer to try and run about nine in ten days with a bunch of others who see that as fun, and to raise some money for a great cause, that seemed to tick the crisis box.
So at the end of September I’ll running 200 miles in ten days from the North of Iceland straight across to the South, as part of The Great Norse Run. With less than a month to go from signing up to when I’ll be out there, my training has kind of started, but there is definitely a little bit more to do!
Whilst this will actually be an amazing adventure, the main aim of this is to raise funds for a small charity that's doing big things with young people. The Committed Project is a charity that provides inspirational mentors and funds innovative adventure-based projects to help empower and inspire young people. Working with children from inner city schools, children excluded from school, and young prisoners both inside and outside of prison, it’s a great cause to support.
With the 40th just around the corner, if I can ask that any beers people were thinking about getting me be converted into a small donation this would be put to much better use. It will also be a great encouragement to actually keep going or at least to ensure I leave you all alone for 10 whole days!
I will however be back in time to celebrate my 40th so details of these plans will also follow.

Committed Project is a small charity that's doing big things with young people. The charity provides inspirational mentors and funds innovative adventure-based projects to help empower and inspire young people. They've worked with difficult children in inner city schools, children excluded from school, and young prisoners both inside and outside of prison.
Adventure has a wonderful ability to break down barriers and bring out someone's real personality. The charity uses this to change and develop young people who others have given up on, with great results.
Last year the charity helped young people plan and execute their own adventures (expeditions, commercial ventures, dance events, etc.). Next year they will also be looking at how adventure can mend the wounds for both young offenders and their victims.
By supporting what Committed Project does, you're helping young people who've given up, find an inspirational reason to keep on going.
