Story
So, as many of you know, I have this amazing job that brings me into contact with some of the most resilient and remarkable children in the world. I work with some phenomenal professionals who work tirelessly to nurture and support some of Lincolnshire's vulnerable young people.
This work has resulted in me having the pleasure of overseeing the NACRO NEST service. This service provides help, support and accommodation to homeless young people and some of our amazing children in care and care leavers. What is the one thing all the kids say ..... they want a pet!
In some of the saddest and most difficult times in life, my pets have always been there. I love my animals and I know how important having a pet to love and care for is good for emotional growth and emotional wellbeing.
Not being at home with family, these young people live without the love and affection of their animals. I know that having had pets in my life has brought me massive joy and comfort, so I am undertaking this bungee jump to raise money to help fund Lincolnshire's first youth housing therapy pet. I am raising funds to ensure that every young person in NEST has the chance to love a pet and feel the joy and warmth of pet ownership.
When we do adopt an animal for the children to love, it will have all it's health and care needs funded for the first few years by me taking this fundraising opportunity to throw myself off a bridge with elastic tied to my ankles.
If you have every owned a pet (or been owned by a cat) you know how good it is for children's emotional wellbeing.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
