Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was due to run the actual Great North Run many (many!) years ago, but had to pull out due to injury. It's always been my aim to enter again, but ill health has repeatedly got in the way.

This year the event is taking place with a difference. The organisers are mimicking the race format so that all runners start their Virtual Great North Run at the same time, and complete the same 13.1 mile distance, but in their local area. Runners will be tracked throughout the virtual race and will be able to view results after the race has finished.

The aim is to fundraise for charities who would otherwise miss out this year. I'll be running for Action for M.E. because it's a condition I've lived with for many years and, although my health has greatly improved over the past couple of years (enough to complete this challenge - I hope!), it continues to impact our family, and the lives of an estimated 250,000 individuals in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide.

All donations gratefully received - thank you!
