On the 22nd February this year I was at the hospital doing a Will for a client who has since died.  For various random and difficult reasons it was a peculiar day to be at the hospital... As I got in to the lift one of the cancer centre nurses said to me " that's a great head of hair you have"

What can I say ? ! ' I grow it myself ' I smirked at her, hearing this all the time. I was not ready for her reply " you should donate it to one of those charities who make wigs for the patients in here who have to have chemotherapy."

I wasn't sure whether to smile again or just thump her and went about my business thinking of all the comments over the past 5 years since I had long hair- withering looks from my mother, confused looks from the judiciary and compelling attacks by my friends (who, incidently were bald or grey!!!) but the seed was sown and so once I reach my target the hair will be plaited into 4 lengths and will be cut off at the root, to be sent to be blended with artificial hair to make wigs for children who lose their hair during chemotherapy.

I don't need to tell any of you about the pain and distress that cancer causes us all, both patients and their friends and family. I always take reassurance from all that can be done today. I look at people today in 2016 making a complete recovery from a cancer that killed my dad in 1996, all the research and progression of treatment is the reason for this.....So the hair and the money will hopefully make a difference in the near future to the people who perhaps today are about to fight this difficult battle...

PS I don't know why Just Giving are insisting my event is in 2022, I intend to have this particular project wrapped up by the end of the year!! It wont let me change the date. I'm good with growing hair but not with technology
