Story
On 12th & 13th of June 2021, The WR2 Ramblers Society (just a bunch of mates) will be embarking on a 100km (60 miles) continuous walk in the Lake District to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Andy, Cam, James, Jermaine, Joe, Mike, Patch , Sean, Jonny, Josh & Rob (The WR2 Ramblers) will begin their walk at 8am and, come rain or shine, will keep walking until they finish.
Don’t let the word “walk” trick you into thinking this challenge is easy. 100km is 2 1/2 marathons and more than 10x the distance of your average Sunday walk, with no rest, no sleep and no beer until the end. It’s expected that the challenge will take around 24 - 30 hours to complete so lack of sleep alone will be tough. However, as a wise man once said, “Don’t ask people to donate money unless you’re going to do something worthy of it.”*
And whist this might seem like a bit of a piss take, there’s a really serious part the challenge… raising money for Cancer Research UK. Someone in the UK dies every 4 minutes from cancer, we don’t need to remind you how shit it is. Everyone knows someone who’s had it, and sadly we all know someone who’s no longer here because of it. A global pandemic might shift people’s focus, but it only goes to make things harder for charities like Cancer Research UK. Your money will go towards helping to beat cancer.
We’ve set ourselves a sizeable target for what we think is a worthy challenge. We appreciate people may be strapped for cash at the moment, but if you can help by donating any amount then we’d all be very grateful.
Much love,
Andy, Cam, James, Jermaine, Joe, Mike, Patch, Jonny, Josh, Sean & Rob x
