Story
Thank you for visiting my page. I've chosen to run the 2023 London Marathon for Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat.
Let's be clear from the outset...I have never wanted to run a marathon (and i am still not sure that i want to)!! But here I am asking for donations, however big or small, because I have been inspired by the brave and remarkable story of a very good friend of mine.
Charlie visited a doctor, 3 years ago with a sore back and came out with a terminal cancer diagnosis. As you can imagine, it was a great shock to him, his young family and his friends. Over the past three years (rather longer than his terminal diognosis predicted that he would live), I have been in awe of him. Never once has he taken a backward step in fighting this terrible disease, not once has he let his fighting spirit be dimmed and not once has he been anything other than a truly positive force for life. I am completely humbled by him and his inner strength.
I was lounging on a beach in Zanzibar at the beginning of February (the 1st to be exact!), and made a call to wish Charlie a happy birthday and the next thing I know, he has convinced me that it was a GREAT idea to run the marathon in aid of Sarcoma Uk - the cancer charity that has supported him so well throughout his journey. How could I say "no"? So here I am, staring down the barrel of some intense training, and hoping that you can dig into your pockets to support this amazing charity.
Thank you in advance for any and all donations
