Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.
I have taken on a challenge of running 4 marathons in the 4 regions of the UK this April and May. Starting with the London Marathon on 22nd April, then to Newport on 29th April, Belfast on 7th May, and concluding with Edinburgh on 27th May.
I can't comment on what it is like to have Multiple Sclerosis, but I have seen the impact it can have every day. My sister Naomi was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2004. She was a busy mum of two young boys. MS is a progressive neurological condition; because it attacks the nerves, this means it can affect any part of the body.
When you hear testimonies like this, the relentless nature of MS is obvious. "Sometimes I've needed to use a wheelchair, sometimes I've lost my eyesight, most of the time I look fine.... You can't see the fatigue, the dizziness, the bladder problems, the cognitive problems. Behind the MS, I'm still me and I will stay positive until we find a cure for MS." Speaking to Naomi shows her strength, her unwillingness to let this defeat who she is, and her hopes for the future. The role and work of the MS Society is critical in finding treatments and hopefully a cure; this is why I have taken on this challenge and ask for your help.
