Story
For the last 5 years I have always wanted to run the London marathon whilst raising money and awareness for a charity which is very close to my heart.
In August 2021, I sadly had to say goodbye to someone very close to me after a short battle with cancer. Sarah O'reilly was my mother-in -law to be, and gran to my sons Justin and Bradley. She was the kindest person you could meet, had the best singing voice and would always say "family is everything". I am also raising money in her memory ( I hope I do you proud Sadie).
Having 2 children myself, I know that if the worst was to happen and they did end up with an illness, it's reassuring to know that amazing charities such as this one exist. Through raising awareness and much needed funding we hope to save as many children as possible.
This will be my hardest challenge to date, after running the Watford half marathon in 2016 and swimmathon in 2018. My training will start 27th December 2022 with updates on my progress.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Any donation, regardless of the amount, will help spur me on. I'm very nervous but excited to take on the challenge!!!! ( details below on what donations go towards)
At Children with Cancer UK, we actively raise and invest money for vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer and keep their family together. Through our investment in research, we are taking forward our understanding of childhood cancer, to give new insights into ways of treating young patients with even the most difficult forms of cancer. We are working to drive up the survival rate still further by developing more effective curative therapies with fewer toxic side effects.
