Krombacher and Back

Krombacher and back · 14 November 2020
This season, West Didsbury and Chorlton FC have been honoured to have a young fan called Oscar support us. Oscar is a 6 year old boy who has Cerebral Palsy and he and his family are looking to raise £65,000 for a life changing operation. Already this season, Oscar has supported West by being ever present in the stands at Brookburn Road and even sponsoring one of the players. The players and staff have been inspired by Oscar’s story and we want to do as much as we can to help our main West Ultra. During lockdown, the players and staff are looking to raise money by running the distance to Krombacher in Germany and back again. We will aim to complete a round trip of approximately 2000km.
So why Krombacher? It is well known that Krombacher is the West fans go to beer and we wanted to simulate the distance there and back. The Krombacher brewery situates on the West side of Germany, between Dortmund and Frankfurt. Krombacher has been a fan favourite over the years at Brookburn Road and always a regular name on the team sheet during testing times. The players and staff thought of many ideas, however this allows us to recognise the fans and their continued support whilst still setting ourselves a challenge abiding by the lockdown rules. We recognise that running approximately 2000km in 3 weeks is far from easy. It is a challenge that motivates the players and staff and it epitomises the clubs enthusiasm to support our local community. Oscar, over recent months you have supported us. Now, it is our time to support you!
