In 2001 a young man arrived in my family who changed my life. Matt was my foster child for the next fourteen years, and in that time I shared his life living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Through the vitality of his personality, his drive to seize each moment and his constant willingness to adapt and remain positive he has inspired me beyond words. 

A cure for Muscular Dystrophy is within reach but requires a final push to fund the scientists whose work is so important in this area. If I and my family, friends and supporters can be a small part of bringing an end to this cruel condition we will have done a very special thing indeed.

Cycling from Hastings in the UK to San Miguel de Salinas in South Eastern Spain, around 1,200 miles, on a heavy old mountain bike will test me in so many ways, and I have no doubt that there will be times of challenge and discomfort, yet these are as nothing compared to the journey those living with Muscular Dystrophy face every day of their lives.
