My family and I are walking for a cure for Alzheimer’s Research UK because it’s a cause that means a huge amount to us. I have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s dementia, and as a family we are determined to do all we can to support research into finding effective treatments for dementia-related illnesses.
Throughout life I’ve always been very fit and active, and apart from my family there’s nothing I love more than a challenge! We’ve chosen to do the Walking for a Cure event in Edinburgh because that’s where our daughter Lucy lives. Lucy, my sons Michael and Jonathan, my daughter-in-law Liz and my wife Vivien are all going to be at my side as I take on the 5k route through beautiful Holyrood Park. My mobility and cognition are challenged on a daily basis by my diagnosis, so it’s going to be my own personal marathon. With the help of my family I’m determined to get across that finish line!
Nearly all of us know someone whose life is being limited by this tough illness. The Hunot family would be beyond grateful for any contribution, however small, to support our challenge and raise money for ARUK’s crucial work.
