Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Prostate cancer kills a man in the UK every 45 minutes. It kills more people, more often than breast cancer does (not that it is a competition).
I will be training towards, and then completing this challenging ride to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK who aim to fund research, treatments and work towards screening centres to provide peace of mind, certainty and to help ultimately reduce the deaths caused.
I like to ride my bike, but make no mistake this is a challenge. The opening stage of 2021's TdF goes from Brest to Landerneau,187km (116m) across Brittany to be completed in one day. That is further than I have ridden in a week so I will be training hard to build up stamina and strength. I HATE climbing, and this stage has some long slopes that will be sure to test me.
I reckon I will need to complete approximately 1,500 miles in training from January to the ride itself in mid-June.
