This charities work is especially close to my heart.
My wife discovered she had type one diabetes at the age of twenty one, (she is now considerably older) and over the last 20 years I have witnessed her constant mental and physical battle with this horrible condition with courage and determination. Like most diabetics they just quietly manage their condition without fuss.
Those of us fortunate enough to be healthy probably don’t full appreciate the relentless fight to control blood sugar levels and the toil it takes, particularly knowing it never ends.
I was so proud to see her cross the finishing line of several 10k races and a half marathon earlier this year but unfortunately she broke her leg a few months ago and will now be unable to complete some events so I want to do my part on the charity front.
Next year marks a decade since I lost my father to complications from his type 2 diabetes too.
I would be enormously grateful for any contribution you can spare as I know how tough things are for us all right now.
