Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am a paramedic working in Leeds and have often taken patients to St Gemma's Hospice. The care, dignity and service it affords patients and their families is nothing short of amazing. It goes without saying that no one ever wants to attend a hospice however, such a place as St Gemma's is unfortunately necessary. As such every care and attention is given to ensure the experience maximises the quality of life for the service users and their families.
I am often humbled by the attitudes and positive outlook of patients a sentiment which is echoed throughout the facility by its wonderful staff and volunteers. It is very easy to think that you have problems, complaining about aches and pains and having a negative outlook. Attending St Gemma's is a timely reminder how fortunate I and most of us are that we have nothing really to moan about.
"There, but for the grace of God, go I." So far I have been blessed with good health and am quite fit. I would like to channel my efforts to help those who no longer can look after themselves and need help
My motto is 'Do what you can whilst you can' hence why I'm doing various events / races to raise as much money as I can.
The races are -
Leeds Marathon 14/05/23, Windermere Marathon 21/05/23, Derby Ramathon 4/06/23, Leeds 10k - 18/06/23 Rothwell Marathon 02/07/23, Race To the Stones Ultra Marathon 9/07/23, Castle Howard Marathon 23/07/23, Hardmoors Trail Marathon 6/08/23, Trans Pennine Trail Marathon - 26/08/23, Loch Ness Marathon 01/09/23, Kielder Marathon - 08/09/23, Yorkshire Marathon - 15/10/23, Hubble Bubble Leeds Marathon 28/10/23.
