Story
On the 27th - 29th March, over 21,000 swimmers will be heading down to over 600 pools across the UK to raise money for our two amazing charity partners.
My three daughters have encouraged me to do a charity swim, given that I swim every week for general fitness. In a moment of weakness I agreed to do this particular 5k swim, and they haven't let me back out!
Cancer has an impact on most families, and we are no different. And many of us will be hit by cancer at some point in our future lives, so we can all benefit from care, support and ongoing research. So I am delighted to be swimming in aid of two great cancer charities, researching treatments and supporting people who experience the disease.
I would really value your support.
I am hopeful I will complete this in 2 hours or a shade quicker (brave words!). I attend most weeks a training session with Newbury District Swim Club, their masters training group (...where 'masters' is an age-category, not ability-based!), where we do 2.5k. So with a bit of planning and extra training, I should be able to do this 5k distance.
