Story
On Sunday 20th May 2018 I will be running in (and hopefully completing) the Liverpool Rock N Roll marathon. Having run just one half marathon previously, with that being in 2004, I am not sure this is the wisest decision!
To help me through the delightful (?) training and on the day I have decided to run in aid of Claire House Children's Hospice.
Claire House is a local charity (based in both Wirral and now Liverpool) helping seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life. Today it helps support over 400 families, an incredible achievement since it first opened its doors in 1998.
We are lucky enough to have two very active, healthy children but this is obviously not the case for everyone. It certainly wasn't the case for Christine and Bobby Cain after whose daughter Claire the facility is named. Claire died of a brain tumour in 1989 and it was the very fact that all of her family could not be together in her final days that led them to begin fundraising and open what was then the first Claire House Bank Account.
They have helped shape an incredible legacy. As Christine and Bobby say 'This special place gives families a choice, the choice that we never had when Claire was ill'.
Your support would be hugely appreciated and would be provide me personally with a huge sense of motivation to complete this challenge.
Thank you!
