On 27th June I will be attempting to run 13.2 miles at 6,500 ft above sea
level in the Lewa half marathon in Kenya.
Before taking up this challenge my personal best in distance running was the 150 metre sprint to the Ladbrokes next to my office, so I have had to take training very seriously.
I am running in the memory of my dear friend Halvor Astrup who supported many wildlife and community projects in East Africa.
The one closest to his heart, The Milgis Trust, was a project that he
founded in 2004 with his friend Helen Douglas Dufresne.
The Milgis Trust is a non profit organisation set up to protect the
wildlife, habitat and pastoral people's way of life in an extraordinarily
beautiful part of Northern Kenya. Typical projects undertaken by the Milgis Trust include water bore holes, eye surgery safaris and educational programs, but the fundamental part of the Trust's work is fighting poaching using a highly effective team of
brave Samburu scouts and rangers.
The Milgis Trust does phenomenal work and your support will have a direct impact on improving the lives of the nomadic tribes of Northern Kenya and safeguarding the ecosystem they inhabit.
By making your support contingent on my completion of the full distance - I will have all the motivation I need to finish this challenge.

PS The donations will be collected by Tusk, who are the registered charity for the event and then distributed to the Milgis.
