I am running the Milton Keynes Marathon on the 6th of May 2013.

After completeing my first half marathon last year I now feel ready for the full 26 miles 385 yards!!

I am running in memory of Gareth Koch. Gareth was my Explorer Scout Leader. He used to take me and another Explorer Scout running as part of our Duke of Edinburgh's Award, investing a significant amount of time and effort in training us both. Gareth always said that one day we would run a marathon, at the time I never thought that I could or would - but here I am! He started me off running and I am now very much 'bitten' by the running bug and so I feel it is right to reconise Gareth's efforts on my first marathon.

Gareth went missing in March 2004. He disappeared whilst trekking in Nepal under very suspicious circumstances. Despite a relentless campaign to find Gareth's wearabouts, nothing has ever been found and his family still have no answers....

Gareth's parents, Gill and David, have set up a candlight fund in Gareth's name. CAFOD stands for the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development and it has been fighting poverty in developing countries for over 40 years. As Gareth went missing in a very poor developing country Gill and David thought it appropriate to choose this charity. I have decided to run for CAFOD too.
