Story
Earlier this year I lost my Dad to dementia. This is a silent condition that gradually erodes the functionality of the mind and then the body. The person you knew very gradually slips away from you.
So I owe it to my Dad to make a long term commitment to supporting research into Alzheimer’s and all forms of dementia. This great charity also does much to support patients and family members of patients suffering with Alzheimer’s.
This is not a case of wanting to do a half marathon anyway and randomly picking a charity. This really means something.
It seems to me there are things we can do in mid life to reduce risk of Alzheimer’s and dementia but these things need more research and to do that they need funding. This is where I come in and I pledge long term fundraising support activities, and this half marathon is just the start for me.
I’m hugely grateful that you’ve read this. It’s a difficult time with the pandemic and everyone’s circumstances are different. But if you can spare a few pounds to help sponsor me in this run, then I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you,
Andrew
