Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

8 of us will be cycling the 170 miles between Morecambe and Bridlington on the 'Way of the Roses' cycle challenge. The challenge begins nice and early on Thursday 14th May, and continues again until the following day.

Emma Barker , a  friend and colleague of ours died at Kirkwood Hospice just over a year ago. Her husband Jeff, who’ll be joining us on the ride said:

“‘Kirkwood Hospice is a very special place. A place where everybody  from doctors and nurses to volunteers and catering teams never forget for a second why they are at work that day -to care for people like Emma and their families. To ensure that their remaining days are as comfortable, peaceful and fulfilling as they can possibly be. After two years of fighting cancer, Em found peace at Kirkwood and in a different way I fell in love with her all over again. My children will always treasure the precious time that they spent there and we will be eternally grateful to all of the angels at Kirkwood for creating an environment for that to happen”. Less than 20% of funding comes from the government. The incredible work that they do simply could not happen unless they receive funding’
