I'm running the London Landmark's Half Marathon to support Anti-Slavery International's work.Slavery did not end with abolition in the 19th century, instead, it changed its forms and continues to harm an estimated 40 million people today. 10 million are children. Slavery takes away the basic rights that many of us take for granted; to live life freely and happily and for children to learn, play and flourish.Anti-Slavery International is the only UK-based charity working exclusively to eliminate all forms of slavery and slavery-like practices in the UK and overseas.But I need your help to bring a real and lasting end to slavery for good and ensure freedom for everyone, everywhere, always. Anti-Slavery international work to end slavery throughout the world. They have projects in the UK and Europe, Africa and Asia, but the campaigning work covers the whole world. Together with local organisations they work to secure the freedom of those affected by slavery and press for effective implementation of laws against slavery.  Modern day slavery is an issue that exists in the UK where many of the victims are illegally brought here with a promise of a better life, then exploited.  These victims are forced to work for very little, sometimes no money, and it’s common practice for the victim to be held captive when not working, or threatened with violence towards them or family members still residing back in their country of origin .  I am running in a team to try raise as much money and awareness as possible for this worthy charity.
