Story
Sophie Airey, our beautiful daughter, took her own life on December 19th 2018.
She was entered to run the Northumberland Half Marathon on February 23rd 2019; needless to say, she won’t be there however, after speaking to the organisers, I have arranged to take Sophie’s entry and will run it in her place. Also running will be Sophie’s husband Sam (although he’s doing the full marathon distance!), his brother Tim and Sophie’s friend, Laura.
We are determined to bring something positive out of our terrible loss so we are raising funds for Papyrus-UK, the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.
Please help us make a difference, the money generated will help Papyrus-UK ensure young people who feel suicidal can access the support they need.
Thank you #RunforSophie
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide and believes that many young suicides are preventable. They operate HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text, and email helpline for young people with thoughts of suicide or those concerned about a young person who may have thoughts of suicide. Every £5 raised can help pay for a potentially life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK from a young person wanting to stay safe from their thoughts of suicide.
