Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·
For the large majority of you it will not come as a surprise that I am running the Flora London Marathon on 26th April. If you weren't aware, be grateful that you've escaped listening to me talking about nothing but running and all things running-related for the last few months.
For those of you that haven't listened to me drone on I'll give you a little background to my training. It officially started on 5th January and has been going well, no major injuries to report (fingers crossed!), I completed Brighton Half Marathon at the end of Feb in a personal best time of 1hr 55mins and I've got another half planned at the end of March. I have ran through freezing fog (seriously), snow, sleet, rain and very recently sunshine all in an effort to avoid hitting the wall on the day.
Now, the bit you've all been waiting for...The London Marathon is the single biggest annual fundraising event nationwide and I am fortunate enough to have a place running for Family Action. Family Action are England's leading family charity and their services help over 45,000 disadvantaged families every year. They help support families with parental mental health problems, young carers, families coping with bereavement, families that are affected by domestic abuse and they are one of the founder members of the Campaign to End Child Poverty.
I'm sure a lot have you have used justgiving before but if not, it's quick, easy and totally secure. If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
I'd be grateful if you can give what you can and I'd also be really grateful for your support on the day - make sure you put 26th April in your diaries!
